Koreaanse ratificatie Haagse Adoptieverdrag

Belangrijk adopko nieuws (via G.O.A'L en Jane Jeong Trenka) uit Korea! De Koreaanse regering is bezig om het Haagse Adoptieverdrag te ratificeren. De Haagse Conventie strijdt voor de rechten van geadopteerde Koreanen - het belang van het kind moet voorop staan. Om de Koreaanse adoptiewet te veranderen, vraagt de Koreaanse regering de medewerking van adopko's (in Korea). Via Facebook kun jij je aanmelden.

Helaas wil de Koreaanse regering de adoptiewet niet alleen veranderen om tegemoet te komen aan de eisen van adopko's. Het moet ook mogelijk worden voor Koreaanse gezinnen kinderen uit Afrika te adopteren. Vorig jaar leasde Zuid-Korea via Daewoo de helft van Madagascar's vruchtbare land voor een periode van 99 jaar. Men noemde dit neo-kolonialisme - uitbuiting van arme landen. Omdat voedselprijzen hoog zijn en de voedselproductie in Korea zelf niet voldoende is. En heeft Korea olie uit Afrika nodig. Zou dit ermee te maken hebben?

This is an exciting time for all Korean adoptees since the topic of this public hearing deals with changing the current Korean adoption system & practice. At present, the Korean government is putting together its plan to ratify the Hague Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (Hague Adoption Convention) which are being reflected in the suggested law changes.

However, there are also many parts of the proposed law changes which have not been fully thought through yet. In order to create a better social welfare system, G.O.A.'L advocates that the proposed changes be well prepared and more experts called to engage in the discussion. The research team (see above) will present their findings and give recommendations to the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. How MIHWAF will petition the amendments of the laws will be decided at the Ministry level. But, on behalf of the global Korean adoptee community, G.O.A.'L will continue to actively participate in the process and will also petition and lobby for further revisions, so that the proposed law changes reflect the opinions of as many Korean adoptees around the world as possible.
